I am looking to go back to school to get an associates degree, but I am not sure, in this economy, what degrees will be the most useful in getting me a job with reasonably good pay, and hours that will allow me to spend time with my little girl. Does anyone have any advice or knowledge in this area?

There are a few very good ones that can lead to good money in a short amount of time. The best one right now is the dental hygiene program...it lasts less than 2 years, and you can make a very nice income. Dental hygienists are in high demand, so your job prospects are excellent. Besides that, most dental hygienists work part-time...that means good news for spending time with your little girl!
Anything concerning computers is still on the rise, especially if you have technical knowledge of the machine itself, and software development experience.
Nursing is always huge. The "nursing shortage" that was threatened a few years ago has come to pass, and now LPNs and RNs are needed badly. LPNs can have a certificate within a year in some places, depending upon the program you choose.
Good luck!
