Hi all
I am recently divorced and have 2 children . My children are covered under their fathers health insurance policy but I am not. what can I do for health insurance? I looked at the medicaid website and my income would qualify . Is medicaid only for parents w/children w/ nocoverage? What are the mom's supposed to do?

Hello oneday09,
Welcome to the SingleMomFinancialHelp Forum!
Medicaid is not only for parents that have children that need to be covered, you may likely qualify on your own. The Medicaid requirements are slightly different in every state, so it would be best for you to contact a representative for you local CMS office to discuss your situation. The following is a link to find the contact information for your local CMS office: CMS Contact Database (http://www.cms.gov/apps/contacts/Default.aspx)
You will need to select your state, and "CMS RO"(this is the CMS regional office), the contact should be "All Contact Types". This will provide you with contact information for your local CMS office.
The other option would be to contact a local health insurance broker and ask what your options are for purchasing private health insurance. They will give you information at no charge, and lay out your options and the pricing of the various health insurance plans that may be available to you. This is based on your health history, age, weight, etc.
I hope that this will be helpful for you!
Regards,
~Sally~ :)
