I have given my 30 days notice to my landlord, but now want to stay, what are my rights?
I am a single mom with 2 dogs and have been living in a house for 6 months then reverted to a month to month due to a possible move out of state. At the urging of a realtor friend of mine, I gave him 30 days notice that I would be moving. In the meantime some health problems came up and I need to stay longer. When I contacted him he did not have a tenant but said he was going to show it to someone else. He also increased the rent. I feel he is discriminating due to the fact that I am a single mother and have sometimes taken until the 10th to pay off the full balance. Number one: Do I have ANY rights since I gave him the 30 days? Number two: Does he have to let me know why he will not allow me to resign a new lease? This has all happened so fast and the original 30 days that I gave him was on the 7th of the month, So I feel that I should at least get until the 7th if he will not allow me to continue renting from him.

many states require only a 20 day notice of your intent to move. it may be you live in one of those states. that 20 days is up the 27th. so, you have the "right" to move. there is no reason he has to provide you with any reason why he will not rent to you.
