One of the biggest things you want to avoid when choosing a major is making a decision to study something that doesn't interest you, but has an attractive looking salary attached to it. Your education is going to be a long process that requires a lot of effort and drive. If you enter a field of education that doesn't match your interests or even your skill sets, college could turn out to be a very trying endeavor. Just by asking yourself "What do I like to do?," or even "What do I dislike doing?", you can narrow down your choices a bit. Quite frankly, if you're paying for higher education, you might as well choose a field of study that you enjoy.

I could not agree with you more Aubre. It took me a few years to decide what I wanted to major in. I wouldn’t say that I wasted money the first few years of college, because any amount of money spent on learning is not wasted. I do feel though that if I would have sat down and really looked into different majors I could have graduated sooner.

You can always try asking a counselor to talk to you about narrowing down a major too - they're free on campus, and talking it out with them could save you an awful lot of time and money later on.

Find something that you enjoy. It has to be something that you like or you will dread going to work each day. And we spend a lot of time at work so why not do something you enjoy. If you like kids become a teacher or if you like to help others become a nurse. Just knowing what you like can help you decide.

Looking for a major is just like looking for your biggest interest. Always ask yourself what you wanted before choosing the best major for you.

Choosing a major is a big help for you to improve more of your skills and abilities. It is better to indulge yourself in what you really want and not to those things that demands you.

To choose a major you really need to do a full self examination!

I know way too many people that complain about the job that they are in. I sit and say why not find a job that you love going to everyday? That way it does not feel like a job at all.

Taking a job as an intern can offer valuable insight as to what your career choice is and what you want to study as your major. Working as an intern is also good when it comes to your resume'. If a potential employer sees that you keep changing jobs they automatically think that you are not reliable but with the word intern in your work experiences they realize that you are in search of the best job fit for you.
