Hello, I hope someone will take the time to read this letter. I’m not sure where to begin so I’m just going to jump right in. . My name is Angela. My husband and I split up in 2003. He had 2 kidney surgeries and became addicted to pain medication .He started being abusive so I left with my three children. Our divorced was in sept. 2007. It took me forever to pay it off. I lived in a two bedroom apt. in Cincinnati for 5 years I decided to get my kids away from all of the fighting so last year I moved with my three children to Indiana in hope of a better quieter life. The kids adjusted over time and now they love it here. I moved into an old farm house in April 2009. We were having a great summer I was working for a woman in Metamora who owned a dog kennel and things were good. On August 29th I got a phone call at 3:33 am. It was University Hospital they told me my parents were in a car accident. A drunk driver got on the highway in the wrong direction and hit them head on. I rushed to the hospital to find my step father was killed and my mother had over 30 broken bones. I have a mentally handicapped sister who lived with them so I brought her home with me. My mom was in ICU for three weeks. After that she went to The Drake Rehabilitation center for 19 days. When she was released I brought her to our house to care for her and help her recover. We turned my living room into a hospital room. We had nurses coming three times a week. It has been a long hard road but by the grace of God we got her walking again and I just helped her move into her own apartment in February. All the while I was unable to work. I have used all of the savings I had for bills gas and necessities. I wasn’t even able to buy my children Christmas presents this year. Last week I started working at a local store and signed up for some online classes so I can get a better job. The reason I’m writing and telling all of this is because I’m in desperate need of help. My electric is due to be shut off on Monday March 15th. I received my first paycheck on Friday but it was only for eight training hours and I had to use that money to buy two used tires at the junkyard my front tires had little pieces of metal sticking out.. I’m so behind on everything and I’m not sure how to get myself out of this mess. I contacted the local churches in our area and was able to get 50.00. In the past if I needed help I would ask my mom and step dad but that has all been taken away. I contacted the local dept of family services in December because we ran out of fuel oil and they filled my tank, so since they already helped us with that they cannot help with this. I also tried to make a payment plan with the utility company but they told me I’ve had plenty of time to pay this and because I got the emergency fuel assistance I do not qualify for a payment plan. So I am at my ropes end and don’t know what to do or who to turn to. This Tragedy has affected our lives badly and I don’t know if there’s anyone who might help us. I thought maybe you guys might know of someone. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it. If not could you maybe say a prayer for us. And my mom. Thanks so much for your time.
