new and need help!
I am 22, mother of two beautiful babies. My son who is 3, and a newborn daughter of 3 1/2 wks. I am married and in the process of getting out. No! this is not post-partum depression. I have been with him for 5 years and sadly the magic and chemistry is just not there anymore. I have made arrangements to move in with my friend while on maternity leave. I work for an honest living making $10.80 an hour, and we all know that in this day and age, its hard to take care of yourself on that kind of money. So I am curious if I could still get state assistance even though I am not legally divorced or even seperated? I can't make it on my own waiting for that to happen. I just have to get my babies and I out NOW! Also, any advice on how you made the transition, with or without kids, would help me sleep at night as well. Btw, I live in Iowa, if that matters at all about the assistance. Thanks! Any advice is HELPFUL!

You need to contact your local department of human services an operation threshold. They will be of great help to you. I make more an hour than you do an I am available for food assistance an my children have title 19. I hope this helps you get started. Good luck.

The Department of Human Services will also help you in getting child support from your ex. This is called child support enforcement, and the following is a link to their US map. Simply click on your state to find a local office: http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/cse/extinf.html
