What are your thought on sex addiction?
There have been a number of male celebrities in recent history that have cheated on their wives, and when the stories surface, the male celebrities are claiming that they are sex addicts. Tiger Woods and Jesse James are two that have received a large amount of press recently.
What are your thought? Do you think sex addiction is a real disease, or are these cheating men looking to not be held accountable for their actions and they see sex addiction as a "get out of jail free card"?

Re: What are your thought on sex addiction?
I don't know that I buy the whole idea of sex addiction. Like so many "fad diseases", it seems like an excuse for people who don't want to take responsibility for their actions, at least in the cases of celebrities who have been caught being unfaithful. I think that a lot of celebrities kind of live by the idea that the normal rules of our society do not apply to them, that they are somehow above the rules of fidelity. I think most of these people would have continued on with their affairs indefinitely had they not been caught.
However, in the case of children that have been sexually molested, and taught to equate sex with the only way of giving and receiving love, I think that they may actually become sex addicts. If from a very young age, they were only given love by adult figures, in a dysfunctional and sexual way. I think that this could create a need to feel "loved" through sex.
What does everyone else think?
