I am 42 and starting college this week, any feedback?

I'm 42 and I've done surprisingly well in my career without having a college degree; I own my own business, but raising kids and today's economy I need a different field and something else to do with my time. I know once I start, I'll do fine...but why am I so nervous about it? It's a huge commitment & will take several years, I know.Have any of you gone back to school after 40? How was it? Any tips from current college students? I am getting financial aid but It is not going to cover everything. Someone told me that Obama is working on a grant for single mothers going back to college but I can't find that online. I wouldn't know where to begin looking for stuff like that. Does anyone have any suggestions?Awww. Thank you for your support, Love you too Papi! Rick, I appreciate your feedback. I will be checking on the grants and I am waiting on financial aid to kick in. Everything is out of pocket right now.

1. Go to ed.gov and search 2. call the fa office at the college. 3. Don't feel too overwhelmed, if an 18-year-old kid with no life experience can do it, you will be fine. 4. Most of the people in my master's program were about your age and I learned a lot from them. 5. Set aside some quiet study time and paper typing time every week where no one can ask you for anything--so you can focus. 6. Get phone numbers and set up study groups with other students--this will help you study and to focus--then you have to study and you learn more with others than alone. It is also less boring. 7. Enjoy being in class and try to get a lot out of it. 8. Talk with your professors and go to their office hours to get help. If you struggle, tell them that you are just getting back into it and they will give you advice and help you help yourself.

I think you are making a good decision. An education is something a person of any age should invest in. Young or old, age should not be an issue because a person is never too old to learn..... Love my mamas!

For me, Whatever age you are, you can still go to school if you really want it. Finishing your studies is already a reward for yourself and also for your family. They will surely appreciate your decision too. Now a days, it's not an issue anymore if you are old or young. So, good luck to your studies.

You have taken a great decision which require guts for anyone of your age and If you think its time to head back to education then do it and don't hesitate .you can try for education loans which has less interest rates and you can also get scholarships from various trusts.
