My life as a single mother, financially has been the biggest struggle, I have been through a few jobs until I found the one that pays what I feel I am worth. I had to move from my hometown to escape the ex and moved to a different city with no job, I wasn’t proud I took whatever job came my way. I took a job in retail had never worked a day in retail before; I’ve work in administrative field since I was 16. I loved that job I worked my way up within months made some great friends and gained some experience. I ended up finding a job back in the administrative field again and have since been there for 5 years. I was financially stuck with all the bills from the divorce he walked away free and clear, 8 ½ years later I am in the process of buying a home, I have taken all my small bills and paid them off and now have three more payments before I’m debt free. Everything was just planning and giving up a lot. I have not bought myself a new pair of pants for years my mom will make me just to help out, but I focus on my bills and our future. I am so close to finishing school in 12 weeks I will have my AA. In 2 months I have another career opportunity I will be taking a chance on, and in about 5 months I will own my own home. I’ve started talking to a builder and will be having my first home built by myself with no help from her father. I am so proud and so happy to be in the position I am at I never thought I would get here. My daughter will be nine next month and is so wonderful, I’m so happy that I have been able to provide for her and she has not had to go without. To be quite honest I’m happy as a single mother, when I was married I was miserable and after our divorce he wrote her off. Sad thing is she’s happy about that and I try to make sure that she has a wonderful life and will continue to do so as long as I can, I will never struggle again, the best thing is my daughter has learned a wonderful lesson that she can do it, she will be independent, successful and know that whatever life throws her, she will survive.

I am a single mom of two teenage girls. My 13 year old will be in 7th grade and my 18 year old will start college in the fall. I work full time as a pre k teacher. Our daily life is very busy. We each have different things going on. I have to manage everything for all three of us and pay the bills. It isn’t easy and some days I feel hopeless, but the best way I found to deal with it all is… ONE DAY AT A TIME! I take one day at a time and deal with one problem at a time, the best I can. I try not to forget the blessings I have. I take time to spend with my girls and enjoy it. I don’t let my finanical problems get in the way of loving my girls. The bill collectors can not take that from me. I try to keep a good outlook on life and be happy. Life is too short to be unhappy all the time. When my kids grow up I want them to remember the happy times we spent togather.
