Yes, transportation can be hard. There are many free cars that you can get or even some cars that are available for very reasonable prices. You just need to keep looking around until you find the best one.

Hello, I am a single mother of 2 beautiful children. I work a full time job, which doesn't pay much. I receive child support but it isn't enough either because more than half of the support was taken from my children and given to my ex's other child from another relationship. I am having severe transportation issues and want to know if there is any sort of program here in Georgia that will assist me with purchasing a reliable used vehicle.

Hi, I am a seperated mother of three children. Getting a divorce in January hopefully, been seperated for three years. I am in need of help trying to get my life back in order. I plan on going back to school in January, but I have one child that is still at home she is 3 years old in December. I have one child that is severe adhd and the other one has severe adhd, Odd( difiency disorder) and PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). Right now we are living with my parents in a very cramped up house, my kids need their own space very badly. I have no car, so I am having to depend on my mom to take me anywhere's I need to go and than she gripes about it when she does. I need some help on getting basically everything from a house or apartment and transportation. I have driver's license but nothing at this point to drive. I have looked at section 8 almost everyday, but they are closed to new applicants and don't know what else to do. Everybody keeps telling keep living with your parents, but they don't know what goes on behind close doors. Its hard living here with three hyper active children, and the arguements that are continuous to where my children have no respect for me at all. I can't find a job because I am depending on her. And that is what I don't want to keep doing. I am 31 years old now and it's time for me and my kids to be a family. Is there anyone that could either help or give suggestions or even both it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and happy holidays

Congratulations on choosing to go back to school! As for assistance, there are many grants for single mothers that you can try and you can also try the HIP (Housing Initiative Program).

I am almost 22 years old. I have a beautiful son who will be 18 months old this month. I was married to his father but we got divorced earlier this year and his parental rights were taken away. So I dont get any child support. I got married again to someone else soon after the divorce and now I am getting divorced again. I feel like all Ive ever done is make mistakes in my life. I am not proud of the choices I have made. Its time I do whats best for myself and my son. I have applied to go to college but I am still waiting to hear back from the school. My son and I are living with my mother, my step father and my little brother. I want more than anything to get on my feet and be able to support myself and my son on my own. Its just really hard being a single mother. My family doesnt want us living here. I feel like they are doing anything they can to get us to leave. They keep holding my past against me when all I want to do is move forward with my life. I feel like in order to succeed and get done what I need to do, I dont need to be living here. Its been really hard on me emotionally. Does anyone know of any housing/school/childcare assistance? Ill take anything I can get.

Hello, my daughter is 16 and getting ready to have her baby in about a month. I want to do everything possible to keep her in school after the baby is born and we have been looking into her going to Phoenix High School where she can take her baby to school with her and still get the education she needs. The problem is getting her to school since she doesn't drive yet, have a car and I go into work at 7:00 in the morning. Since I leave so early to get to work I have no way to get her there unless they will let her come in around 6:30 am. I don't think that is possible since classes do not start until a little after 8 am. Is there any transportation that would be available to help me get her and the baby to school? Thanks so much for any suggestions you might have.

I fled from an abusive situation in Pennsylvania. I have an elementary aged daughter and I have successfully rented a safe apartment. The problem is my daughter and I are forced to sleep on the floor with no furniture. I left everything behind to get out of that situation. I cry at night because I've taken her out of one bad situation from another. (although sleeping on the floor is under no circumstances compared to what we've been through) I have been here a month and obtained housing and a part-time job. I am trying my hardest to get it together. Does anyone know of a place in Savannah, GA that can help me with basic necessities? Please.

I am a single mom of two teenagers (17 & 16) and as most of you know times are hard now with the cost of gas, food, and everything else rising with no raise in your income. I have student loans, car payments, rent and utilities that need to be paid on top of gas in both vehicles (one is for my daughter - that I had to buy from her father) along with maintenance on both vehicles. I am desperate for some assistance with getting bills either consolidated, or lowered in order to pay them monthly and have money for food and gas. Also, i am not receiving child support yet, have to get all this worked out in court. But as you know one must not depend on child support to help with bills. All I am asking is that I get some relief, get my bills caught up so I can pay them each month on time. I am looking for a house/trailer to rent that I will be able to afford on my income as well. Thanks for any assistance I can get to get me caught up and on my feet so I can pay each month what is owed.
