You can try and search on Craigslist for furniture near your city. You will get great deals, but make sure they are in good condition.

Lance,

I can assure you that we have helped many single mothers in need. We are not hear to hand out money or find single moms jobs. We are here to help the single mothers out there that want to help themselves. By providing information on programs, organizations, and assistance offered by their State. Sorry to here that you did not find this site, as you say, "much help or good advice". There is a Financial Help for Single Dads http://www.singledadfinancialhelp.com/ that you may find more helpful to you. I do thank you for the information you provided me about the impact program and the HIP program. I will pass this information on to our single mothers on this site. God bless!

I'm a single father struggling myself, on the verge of homelessness every wed when rent is due at the hotel i'm staying at. Your not going to get much help or good advice from this site, i can tell you that. fyi, section 8 isn't even taking apps anymore. Your best bet is to call local churches and organizations. There is also something called the impact program. Look them up through the childrens bureau, there is also nacs through them as well. Both will help you and take you far. If you are homeless talk to the HIP program(homeless initiative program) they can help with things to. It's really tough to get a job right now but you have to keep trying and keep praying. God is def. good. Trust me, i'm in the situation myself. We have lived in hotels and homeless shelters but we have some how always managed to make it. I wish there was more organizations, other than the impact program that would help people find jobs. The jobs out there are really tough to get. If anyone knows of anyone hiring in the indianapolis area please e-mail me. Good luck to everyone out there, i hope my comment was helpful. God bless.

I am a single Mother of 3. The unfortunate thing is that some of us do not qualify for assistance. But we are straped cause the child support we do receive doesn't even put a dent on what is actually needed to raise a child. I am lucky I guess that I do receive support. However, it still isn't enough. I pinch and scrape to get by and there are no extras,no vacations. With the economy the way it is I have had to have additional cut backs in my household. Now the big one... WHAT IF I WERE TO GET HURT or SICK??? Which could happen since I have put my health in general on the back burner Better yet what do I do if my child gets sick? Which has happened and a year later I am still struggling to pay off his $4000 in medical bills. . This is a common theme amongst all Single Parents (Men and Women). I don't qualify for assistance cause I make to much money. I don't live with credit card debt, I don't have a car loan, I don't have nice clothes or furniture. I shop at discount stores etc.... Where can a person get help if there is an urgent financial need??

I'm unsure exactly what sort of resources you need, or I could direct you a little more specifically ... but plenty of the resources on here can be used for single dads to. Browse around and see if there are any articles that can be of help to you.
