I would make sure you’re getting the child support that you need first of all. Just because you may not prefer to have any contact with this man, doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be sending you a check every month. Also, look into the government programs and non-profits in your area.

I’m a single mother of 2 daughters I was in a horrible accident & deal with pain every day just normal house work is a struggle some times I recently started having siezures & was diagnosed with a siezure disorder lost my job cuz of it & now worry if I will ever work again because of the pain I deal with everyday & the siezure disorder I use to be very independent & now have lost every thing including my car! My oldest daughters father past away 12 yrs ago & have a lot of problems with my youngest daughters father it was a horrible abusive relationship I have lost my independence & my self as a person I feel horrible every day wondering how we will make it! I’m totally lost & don’t know what to do! Kelly Allen

You can always look into different charities in your area – often they have programs that are much quicker than the government sponsored ones.

i keep trying to find assistance so i can move out on my own with my 3 year old son but i feel like im either going in circles or the waiting list is years away. i know im not going to get immediate help but is there anything out there that can help out within the next few months?

My husband & I have been separated perhaps five years ago. We have been living separately since we separated. I don’t asks for his support, because he has two children of to care for. I have two children to care for as well. He lives in a different state. I’m thinking about moving to Wisconsin with my two children. Would that consider myself as a single mom, as we did not file for divorce yet? I will need help. I don’t know if I would be qualify for the above. I’m really desperate for help. Please respond. Thanks.
