You can try the TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) and the HIP (Housing Initiative Program) provide lots of help. Even Grants for Single Mothers can help.

I consider myself a single mother, I have a 15 month old daughter. Have been seperated from the father/husband for a little over a year. He has not seen her in this time, let alone sent letters or anything. I am wondering if I still would qualify for help even if we are not divorced yet. If so or not what would be the best way to get help financially other then child support. Help by housing, and other items.

Hi my name is Dustin my girlfriend just found out she is pregnant. I’m in ky finishing up with the army and not being paid so I’m unable to send money or I would is there any place to go so she can get a little help until I’m able to send money or get home which ever comes first. She is also living with a friend right now and doesn’t currently have a job so it’s a bit of a predicament. Thanks for your time

I would make sure you’re getting the child support that you need first of all. Just because you may not prefer to have any contact with this man, doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be sending you a check every month. Also, look into the government programs and non-profits in your area.

I’m a single mother of 2 daughters I was in a horrible accident & deal with pain every day just normal house work is a struggle some times I recently started having siezures & was diagnosed with a siezure disorder lost my job cuz of it & now worry if I will ever work again because of the pain I deal with everyday & the siezure disorder I use to be very independent & now have lost every thing including my car! My oldest daughters father past away 12 yrs ago & have a lot of problems with my youngest daughters father it was a horrible abusive relationship I have lost my independence & my self as a person I feel horrible every day wondering how we will make it! I’m totally lost & don’t know what to do! Kelly Allen

You can always look into different charities in your area – often they have programs that are much quicker than the government sponsored ones.

i keep trying to find assistance so i can move out on my own with my 3 year old son but i feel like im either going in circles or the waiting list is years away. i know im not going to get immediate help but is there anything out there that can help out within the next few months?

My husband & I have been separated perhaps five years ago. We have been living separately since we separated. I don’t asks for his support, because he has two children of to care for. I have two children to care for as well. He lives in a different state. I’m thinking about moving to Wisconsin with my two children. Would that consider myself as a single mom, as we did not file for divorce yet? I will need help. I don’t know if I would be qualify for the above. I’m really desperate for help. Please respond.
